Reimagining Resilience 1:
Understanding Trauma and Creating Safer Environments
May 12th & 19th
Tuesdays
4:30-6:30pm
on Zoom
"I'm safe. I belong. I matter."
This is how every child needs to feel in order to learn. Supporting that can be challenging—especially when our own nervous systems are overwhelmed.
In this interactive, two-session workshop, you'll gain:
- Practical tools that help young people feel safer (Regulate), connected (Relate), and ready to learn (Reason)
-
A deeper understanding of how Adverse Childhood Experiences & Environments (ACEs) impact brain development and behavior
- Trauma-responsive language and responses that reinforce young people’s intrinsic sense of value and capability
- Regulation skills for both yourself and the young people you support
- Approaches for shifting from harmful “power-over” dynamics to “power-with” practices that foster equity and inclusion
Why It Matters
This workshop empowers educators and youth workers to challenge systemic inequities and build more inclusive, supportive learning environments. By shifting our own mindsets and practices, we model collaboration and compassion—ultimately breaking cycles of disengagement, bullying, and other harmful behaviors.
